Recently I was delighted to be on a VIP tour led by Bree McKilligan, Pride Giving Adviser She/Her of The Victorian Pride Centre, Melbourne and Cr Steve Stefanopoulos, Deputy Chair of the Pride Fund with Andrew Chamberlain and Steve Dimopoulos MP.

We were taken on an architectural journey of this safe space commencing on the rooftop home to weekly BBQ’s with a super chillout zone and seaview. This is home to many companies and not for profit organisations that support the LGBTQI community from, Monash Gender Clinic, Koorie Pride Victoria, Star Observer, Game Finance, Transgender Victoria, Australian GLBTIQ Multicultural Council and more. A café opening is on the horizon and a theatre so lots of reasons to pay this beautiful hub a visit.

I loved visiting The Australian Queer Archives run by Nicholas Henderson and team were busy, the memorabilia is extensive from banners, books, badges and lots of books and magazines as well as albums. ‘Hares & Hyenas’ (the Queer bookshop) is available at the Centre sadly it was closed on my visit but I’m certain the bookstore will have eclectic titles.

Joy 94.9 radio station also broadcast from The Pride Centre. They run yearly a radiothon to raise precious funds to keep Joy going and support the community.

As an inclusive celebrant at PH Celebrants, I look forward to assisting more of the LGBTQIA community marry their special someone.
