Singapore is such a fun place with a mix of the old with the new and there is lots of fun to be had. I really want my readers to get the max out of their stays however short or long and this is how you can create your plan and make it work.
Generally I review many travel posts including TripAdvisor to obtain inspiration and then once I have gathered some information I start thinking of creating my days into themes, such as:
Day 1 Adventure & fun
Day 2 Exploring
Day 3 A sophisticated day and a little down time
All the days can be interchanged at the planning stage and then I look at the weather and build in a contingency plan in case the tropical weather becomes too hot, wet or sticky.
Once I have put down a group of items I would like to do I then start putting them into my categories, such as:
Day 1 Cable car ride, monorail, SEA aquarium, plus boat cruise and wander around Clarke Quay – Sentosa Island
Day 2 Cooking class with Food Playground in Chinatown, Visit a temple, Orchid park at the botanical garden with the Cool House and the Gardens by the Bay with the two domes (the Cloud dome is very impressive and a must see with seven levels). Dinner at C’est la Vie on the roof top level 57 with the Observation deck on level 56 of Marina Bay Sands.
Day 3 Old world charm – afternoon tea at Raffles shuck some peanuts whilst drinking a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar. In my case lunch at ‘yi by Jereme Leung‘ the prestigious and ingenious Chinese fine-dining restaurant headed up by Executive Chef
Next is the booking element.
Now don’t just book the first trip you find that meets your brief – keep looking on Google and let Google be your friend, you can often save from $10 – $50 on your bookings. Also, be careful if you are travelling alone due to your partner working you may find that your apps that you regularly use for bookings have a smart memory and then immediately input two instead of your desired selection on this occasion for one. It is interesting to see that often there is a premium to pay if you are booking something alone — which is really rubbing salt into the wound if you are a widow, single or just needing to book a day by yourself — so take care and keep scrolling until you see a selection that doesn’t penalise you for only wanting to book for one.
Enjoying my days:
