Lightscape Melbourne 2023

One of Melbourne’s best events yet, powered by Red Energy.

Two months ago I purchased tickets to attend Lightscape as an intrigued person I felt certain it would be a good event, though I had no idea how good. Upon arrival everything worked, first tick. There were food trucks, ticket readers with designated lanes to enter. Fabulous stops enroute walking through the magical forest with a mystical ghost tree with ever changing music in the moonlight from Soul, classical, ethereal style to music that could easily be at home on a Disney set. (Royal Botanical Gardens Melbourne).

The beginning of our moonlit walk through Lightscape.

Seeing was believing the whole gardens have been turned into a winter wonderland (sans snow) but lots of beautiful projections of light. With installations of orchids, trees, aboriginal designed totems and gorgeous aboriginal projections on the floor and lights bouncing off the trees creating amazing reflections in the water. Tick, tick.

Aboriginal totems.

The mushroom forest was rather special and very magical.

The Prosecco Van was on tap to pour some bubbles. Tick, tick, tick, There was mulled wine and for those wanting something chilled ice creams, though on a chilly evening at 8 degrees I was definitely heading for anything hot.

Fabulous tree illuminations.
Giant green illuminations.

Half way around at the terrace restaurant this has been converted into live cooking stations from asian to italian and all tasty. There you could view outside, the dancing fountains reminding me of the Belaggio fountains in Dubai and Las Vegas.

Government House created a beautiful back-drop to this staging with the flag flying high.

On the return pink path there were amazing archways ablaze with lights leading on to a flurry in the fire garden.

The reflections across the water was spectacular with trees upturned and dancing with colour. So many ticks…

This spectacular event is not to be missed and is very affordable. Purchase tickets through Ticketek and for more info click here.

Fabulous bellagio style fountains at Lightscape.

Notes

This is a 2.1km walk around the gardens, there is no quick exit. Dress warm as the temperature is plummeting in Melbourne at night. There are some benches to sit along the way and a food stop half way around.
