One of my favourite cuisines is Mexican. For those that know me I am always on the search for the perfect Margarita and interesting Mexican delights.
Having been spoiled by dear friends Barbara and Guy (Barbara being Mexican) not only the fun of eating Mexican but being introduced to beautiful hospitality by Mexicans and of course learning the correct way to do tequila shots ( Arriba, Abajo, Al Centro, Pa Dentro and you do this with the sign of the cross) once you start hitting the tequila it makes it far more fun to do.
So back to Mamasita. My top tip is book on opentable and take one of their specially prepared menus. We did a seven course and not only was it amazing value, it introduced us to some exquisite mouthfuls of heaven. A few of my favourites were the earlier courses whereby, I devoured squid ink tapioca crisp with a guacomole & scallop ceviche this was light, fresh and simply delicious of course I had this accompanied by a Mamasita margarita which was a great accompaniment for all the courses 🙂
The Duck was cooked to perfection and seared beautifully. It was served with a sour cherry mole, carrot purée, charred carrots which were extremely delicious and pursiane.
To complete our delicous seven courses with had the Pastre which was a coconut flan which was lighter than an angel cake and with the blackened pineapple and coconut this was a fabulous end to conclude a fun evening.
Mamasita is hidden away at the ‘Paris End’ of Collins St near Parliament House (No. 11 Collins St, Melbourne CBD) it is worth climbing the steep stairs to enjoy the nectar within 🙂
